At the Hydroinformatics Institute (H2i), we bring together a deep understanding of water-related challenges and the most advanced technologies to solve the pressing water management issues of today.
Using big data analytics, machine learning and advanced computer modelling, our teams develop, execute and manage specialist consultancy projects in the fields of monitoring, hydrodynamic modelling, water quality modelling and operational management systems.
We use state-of-the-art computer modelling software for coastal waters, estuaries, rivers, lakes, and rural and urban areas, and find innovative ways to leverage the potential of big data for better inland and coastal water management.
Since H2i was established as a company in June 2014, we have signed and executed multiple contracts with government agencies, private and public listed firms, as well as NGOs in Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East. We also work closely with national water organisations in countries like Singapore, where we maintain the nation’s most accurate 3D hydrodynamic model.

The Hydroinformatics Institute (H2i) was established in June 2014 on the foundations of the Singapore Delft Water Alliance (SDWA) , a Centre of Excellence for research based at the National University of Singapore.
From 2007 to 2014, SDWA undertook a wide spectrum of research in urban and coastal water resource management, in the fields of Catchment Hydrology, Coastal Hydrodynamics, Integrated Urban Water Resources, and Climate Change. It published more than 250 scientific articles and presented more than 200 seminars at national and international conferences over a five-year period.
We draw from that collective experience in research and specialist consultancy, and find application for it in the real world, including though predicative numerical and integrated modelling systems.
For our projects, we often collaborate with organisations such as the National University of Singapore, Deltares and DHI, international engineering consultants, and other institutes from around the world.
The 17 SDGs, aimed at ending global poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all, cover a broad range of social and economic development issues.
Several goals relate directly to water including ensuring access to "clean water and sanitation" (Goal 6), “climate action” (Goal 13), and “life below water” (Goal 14), which concerns the sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources, and ensuring water quality.
Additionally, many of the other goals remain out of reach without water access and sound water management practices. These include goals to achieve “zero hunger” (Goal 2) and to “sustainable cities and communities" (Goal 11). These SDGs depend on water demand being met and the impact of climate change being mitigated.
